Thankful
Happy Thanksgiving yall! Recently I had a chance to take a selfie roadtrip that was an eye opening experience for me. As I sit at the bar in P.F. Chang’s getting dinner before the Anita Baker concert I began thinking about this week’s blog and what I’m thankful for. Of course I’m thankful for life, health and strength, I’m thankful for my family and friends, I also give thanks for having gainful employment to supply me of all my needs! But the one thing Im truly appreciative of is being able to enjoy the company of my own self! I enjoy spending time WITH ME! 😊
Even though that seems so simple I often run into a lot of people who cant seem to enjoy spending time by themselves. And quite frankly I was that same person! If you know me then you know I’m a “single hopeless romantic”( almost sounds like a double negative 😂) But in my 20s I spent alot of time waiting for the one to come along to enjoy simple liberties such as dates, quality time, or anything that is cutesie tootsie 😂. I was the girl who had a whole list of activities that I couldn’t wait to do with my someone special! And a thought came one day…”What if he never comes?”
And that was when I made the decision that no matter my relationship status I will ALWAYS ENJOY ME! At the end of the day all you have is you (and the Lord) so you have no choice but to love you! If I can’t love myself how can I teach someone else how to love me. If I don’t spend time planning dates for myself how can I expect someone else to be able to plan a date with me in mind. If you can’t consider yourself or make time for your own self in a day how do you expect someone else to do it! You can’t teach what you don’t know!
So this week I’m thankful for my single season that has made me into the woman who’s able to enjoy herself. A woman who can appreciate the compliment of a man but knows it’s not necessary to determine her worth! A woman who when she is found will be everything to the man God has for her but is whole all on her own right now. Learn, love, and spend time with you in this season of life! You never know how great you are until you get to know the real you!
Love ya! 💕
